Don’t miss out on this fun family event in Downtown Orillia! Bring the family to The Annual Downtown Children’s Candlelight Parade and Tree Lighting set for Friday, November 23 in Downtown Orillia, beginning at the Royal Canadian Legion at 215 Mississaga St E. Hundreds of children will gather in the Legion parking lot at 6:30 pm and each child will be given a battery operated candle to walk up the main street at 7:00 pm singing carols with the Town Crier leading the way to the The Orillia Opera House.
The parade will make its way past 80 thousand lights on the main street which will be lit up for the Christmas season. The crowd will then gather at the Orillia Opera House surrounding the giant Christmas tree for the countdown as a representative of Orillia Power Corp, who generously sponsors the lights each year, flicks the switch on more than 12 thousand lights.
Enjoy free hot chocolate compliments of the The Salvation Army Orillia and delicious sugar cookies donated by Mariposa Market to celebrate the spirit of the holiday with this annual tradition. Don’t forget that Santa will be there too and will be ready to have his picture taken with the little ones!
There will also be Free Parking (in downtown lots only) beginning on November 23 until January 6. Please note that street parking fees will still be in effect.
